A Historic Motorcycle From 1894 Goes Up For Auction

The New York Times reports that one of the earliest motorcycles ever built is up for auction on Sunday at the International Classic Motorcycle Show in Stafford, England.

The bike is a very rare 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller “motorrad”, just one of 800 to 2000 motorrads ever made according to the New York Times story.

The motorrad was modest on features compared to today’s high tech models. How modest? How about no clutch, starter, or brakes? Even in its rough condition, this ancient bike could fetch up to $90,000 at auction.
